Artist/Band: Butch Hancock Tabs
Song: Banks Of The Guadalupe Tab
(C)Down by the banks of the Guada-(Dm)lupe
On a summer's (G)evenin' halo'd (C)moon
Wide eyed as night owls naked as a (Dm)dream
We washed our (G)love in the ripplin' waters of a ramblin' (C)stream
We slept like time itself under diamond (Dm)skies
Far from the (G)bright lights and the city's (C)lies
Our love arose like a mornin' (Dm)dream
We were (G)washed in the ripplin' waters of a ramblin' (C)stream
Oh, the mountain (G)dreams of a blanket of (C)snow
And the wild wind (Dm)dreams of (G)directions it may (C)blow
But the river's dream is a dream of (Dm)love
And a dream of (G)deep reflections from (C)above
Down by the banks of the river of (Dm)change
We watched the (G)river runnin' from the wishes of the mountain (C)range
And the stars and the wild wind played the season's (Dm)themes
We washed our (G)love in the ripplin' waters of a ramblin' (C)stream
Oh, the mountain (G)dreams of a blanket of (C)snow
And the wild wind (Dm)dreams of (G)directions it may (C)blow
But the river's dream is a dream of (Dm)love
And a dream of (G)deep reflections from (C)above
(C)Down by the banks of the Guada-(Dm)lupe
On a summer's (G)evenin' halo'd (C)moon
Wide eyed as night owls naked as a (Dm)dream
We washed our (G)love in the ripplin' waters of a ramblin' (C)stream
Guadalupe pronounced as Gwa-da-loop Refers to a river through the hill country
north of San Antonio, Texas. Crosses the highway to Austin. Nice easy folk/country
ballad.
Jimmie Dale Gilmore also recorded it. It's also on a live album called Two Roads
where they sing a couple of verses each. Grouse man.
I come from Melb, Aust, but I just love that Texican music. Afraid I don't like
their beer though. But I brew my own, so I don't care for Aussie swill either.
Gave up playing guitar soon after I first picked up a ukulele. Now I play
everything I ever did on the guitar and more.
