Song: In A Real Love Tab

In A Real Love
by Phil Vassar

This is a really great song, and a lot of fun to play, but
you almost definitely have to listen to the song while
you're trying to read the chord the first few times you
play it, as it's not terribly easy to play with all of the
frills and walks included...like I said, any questions,
please email me! If there's enough interest, I'll post a
soundbyte, just let me know!

That said, listen carefully, be patient, and (most
importantly), enjoy! :-D

_SOME_NOTES_:
1. Capo II, All Chords Relative

2. **A/G**: when you see this chord notated, it means to play this, in this song:
e|-3-|
B|-3-|
G|-2-|
D|-2-| (relative to the capo, of course)
A|-0-|
E|-x-|

3. (wk) anywhere in this song means to walk, i.e. "G (wk)" means to play a "G"
chord, then walk down to "G/F#"...does that make sense? If not, email me,
I'll try to explain it better.

4. This is the tab for what's noted as the "*C(stop)-C/B(stop)-A/G walk*"
(note: this particular tab (only numer "4") is not tabbed in rhythm, these are
just the notes you play in the song...you'll have to listen to the song (or a
soundbyte, if I ever add one) to hear the timing...):

Cadd9 C/B(add9?) A/G
e|--3----3---------3--|
B|--3----3---------3--|
G|--0----0---------2--|
D|--2----2---------2--|
A|--3----2---------0--|
E|--x----x---------x--|

5. *Special to walk to D* means play this short walk (it goes by fast in the
song, you have to listen, but if you play it, it really adds something to the
song...however, it and ALL the runs/walks in the song are not NECESSARY, per
se, but they REALLY add to it...)
          D
e|--------2---|
B|--------3---|
G|--------2---|
D|--------0---|
A|--0-2-3-0---|
E|--------x---|

6. *End Run*

Intro (the piano in the intro is some cool stuff, and I plan to tab it out on
the guitar seperately when I have time, but the chords that follow that piano
go like this):

G Em C D (2x)

Verse 1:
G Em
I was 18, workin' minimum wage
       C D
With a letterman jacket and a chevrolet
          G Em C D
I thought I was cool, yeah, I ruled the school
G Em
You were cum laude with the strawberry lips
            C D
You had the whole world danglin' at your finger tips
     G Em C D
Your senior year, and I was your Daddy's worst fear
D Am
We ran off on graduation night
D Am G-D-G(this G is the one in the chorus)
We thought a couple of left hand rings would make everything all right

Chorus:
       G Em
With a little bit of live, little bit of learn
              C D
Little bit of watching a few more candles burn, and
G (wk) Em (wk) C (wk) D
Finding out what life was ooh
       G Em
With a little bit of fuss, little bit of fight
              C D
Little bit of kiss and makin' up all night, and
G (wk) Em (wk) A/G (wk) D G (repeat intro)
One day wakin' up, oh, in a real love

Verse 2:
I was 22, working double overtime,
I was spending dollars and making dimes
We were overdrawn, and barely hanging on
Then one night you came to me
With tears in your eyes and an EPT and said
"Guess what...yeah, baby, ready or not"
I just smiled, but I was scared to death
How am I gonna have a kid when I'm still a kid myself?

Chorus:
       G Em
With a little bit of live, little bit of learn
              C D
Little bit of watching a few more candles burn, and
G (wk) Em (wk) C (wk) D
Finding out what life was ooh
       G Em
With a little bit of fuss, little bit of fight
              C D
Little bit of kiss and makin' up all night, and
G (wk) Em (wk) A/G (wk) D G (wk) Em (wk) A/G
One day wakin' up, oh, in a real love Whoa, in a real love
G (wk) *C(stop)-C/B(stop)-A/G walk* G (wk) Em (wk) A/G (wk) D
                                Yeah, it's a real love.........mmm...

Chorus:
       G(stop) (No Chords)
With a little bit of live, little bit of learn
              C(stop) D
Little bit of watching a few more candles burn, and
G (wk) Em (wk) C...*special walk to D*
Finding out what life was, ooh
       G Em
With a little bit of fuss, little bit of fight
              C D
Little bit of kiss and makin' up all night, and
G (wk) Em (wk) A/G D G (wk) Em (wk) A/G
One day wakin' up, oh, in a real love
D........................(Outro)
 Yeah baby...it's a real love

Outro:
G Em C D (4x - 4th time play "6." - a.k.a. *End Run*)

(sings this throughout the outro:
"Yes, it's a real love, baby
Yo, it's a real, real, real, real, real, real, real love")
